The governor of the Sahel region in Burkina Faso said that “a supply convoy was passing along the road between the cities of Djibo and Borzanga and one of the vehicles in which it was transporting civilians exploded as it passed over an improvised explosive device. .”

In his statement, he indicated that “temporary losses as a result of the explosion amount to 35 dead and 37 injured, all of them civilians”, explaining that “the explosion occurred when the convoy was returning from the north of the country to the capital Ouagadougou. He pointed out that “the guards promptly secured the perimeter and took measures to provide assistance to the victims. Assistance was provided to the wounded, and the severe ones among them were transferred to the appropriate institutions.”

These convoys, escorted by the army, deliver supplies to cities in the north of the country besieged by armed jihadist groups.

It is noteworthy that in early August, on the same road, 15 servicemen were killed as a result of an attack using two explosive devices that exploded simultaneously.
