The Angolan President, João Lourenço, on Wednesday congratulated the Brazilian people for 200 years of independence and praised Brazil’s role as a partner in the development of African countries, in particular Angola.
In a message sent to the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, the Angolan head of state highlights the “great role that Brazil has been assuming with respectable strength in the context of the South American nations, in particular, and the rest of the world”.
Therefore, consider that the “brother country” is an “essential actor to address issues of world peace and security and also as a partner in the development of the countries of Africa and of Angola, in particular”.
João Lourenço concludes the message to his counterpart, released by the press secretary, reiterating the firm desire of his executive to “continue striving so that the two countries permanently maintain the great friendly relations that unite them”.
On September 7, 1822, D. Pedro I of Brazil and IV of Portugal proclaimed the independence of the country that is this Wednesday the giant of South America, on the banks of the Ipiranga River.
