Bolsonarists exalt the military and speak of a dictatorship of the judiciary in a bicentennial initiative in Rio de Janeiro

Supporters of the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, who this Wednesday participate in a 200 years of the Portuguese independence initiativel in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, they praised the presence of the military and attacked an alleged judicial dictatorship in progress in the country.

Rafael de Araújo, 30, considered that the military is doing something, that this day they carry out air shows, naval parades, cannon shots and other activities on the outskirts of Copacabana, simultaneously with the electoral act called by the Brazilian president. “normal”justifying that the military “are here to protect the homeland and their greatest representation is to bring security to the people.”

Asked about the possibility of a military intervention in the event of Bolsonaro’s defeat in the presidential elections, whose first round is scheduled for October 2, Araújo said he was in favor, if “there is fraud” demonstrated in the elections.

“With fraud in the elections, the Armed Forces will surely be summoned by the Brazilian people,” he stressed.

Jorginete Martins, 53, applauded the military’s participation in what he called Bolsonaro’s “patriotic rally” and said he saw no problem with the military participating in the political campaign.

The supporter of the current Brazilian president, who repeatedly warns about the risk of fraud in the electronic voting system, also agreed that the military must act in the elections.

“The military could intervene because there will be fraud. I know a lot of people abroad who are crazy about Lula da Silva, but they don’t know what she did in Brazil”, she defended.

Asked about how the alleged fraud would occur in the country, the supporter of the current government argued that “many people want Lula da Silva in power, he shouldn’t even be running cuz he’s an ex-con“.

“Military intervention would be good because it would remove many people from power and, especially, the judges of the Federal Supreme Court. [STF]”, he defended.

Fabio Rosa, 57, said that the Copacabana acts are not electoral acts, but civic ones.

“There are two events, the first point is that it is the 200th anniversary of the independence of Brazil, this was recognized today by the Queen of England. The second point is that we celebrate 150 years of Independence, in 1972, during the military regime, the people took to the streets in the same way and, therefore, this is not an electoral act, they are civic acts”, he defended Pink.

The Bolsonaro supporter also stressed that “the military is irrelevant these days, it’s been quiet for over 30 years“.

However, according to Rosa, Brazil “lives a dictatorship of the judiciary.”

“In fact, we have more than 160 acts of the STF that try to harm the Brazilian government. We are being oppressed by the judiciary,” he said.

“Brazil is torn between oppression and freedom. We are here for freedom. I like the President and his Government, but I am not here for the President, but for freedom”, he concluded.

The commemorations of the bicentennial of the independence of Brazil, which is celebrated on this day, take place when the official campaign for the Brazilian presidential elections on October 2 is underway, with a possible second round on October 30, to which candidates are , among others, Jair Bolsonaro and former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

According to the average of the polls released in Brazil, Lula da Silva leads the presidential race with more than 44% of voting intentions, followed by Bolsonaro, who has more than 30% support so far.
