The Syrian Ministry of Transport announced “the resumption of air traffic through Aleppo International Airport starting today, Friday, September 9, 2022 at 12:00 local time.”

The ministry said in a statement: “The cadres of the General Organization of Civil Aviation, in cooperation with our national companies, have repaired the damage caused by the Israeli aggression against the airport last Tuesday evening.”

He urged “air carriers operating through the airport to reprogram their inbound and outbound flights from this date,” noting that “the airport will work with all its might to serve passengers and airlines around the clock.”

On Tuesday, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported, citing a military source, that “At around 20:16 pm, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with a number of missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, aimed at the Aleppo International Airport,” which led to material damage to the airport runway and its failure”, stressing that “the air force countered the missiles of Israeli aggression and shot down several of them.”
