An Egyptian court sentenced Judge Ayman Hajjaj, who was convicted of killing his wife, Egyptian TV presenter Shayma Gamal, to death by hanging, and his partner, contractor Hussein Al-Gharabli, received the same sentence after receiving a legal opinion from the Grand Mufti of Egypt. .

The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that “a report was received from a member of the judiciary that his victim’s wife, Shayma Jamal, who works as a journalist for a satellite channel, was missing after she disappeared from the mall. in October, without blaming anyone for it.
The prosecution stated that it “opened an investigation and listened to the testimony of the victim’s family, which testified to her disappearance after she was accompanied by her husband in front of the aforementioned shopping complex, and during the investigation, evidence emerged that cast doubt on the validity of his statement.” .”
And indicated that “one of the persons appeared yesterday, on Sunday, before the prosecutor’s office and confirmed his close relationship with the husband of the victim, and expressed a desire to make statements about the involvement of the husband, who reported the absence of his wife in her murder, due to disagreements between them, confirming, that he had witnessed the circumstances of the murder and knew the place of burial of her body.”
In its statement, the prosecutor’s office confirmed that “in light of this, and also in connection with the fact that the victim’s husband belongs to one of the judicial authorities, the prosecutor’s office received permission from this authority to take measures to investigate him in connection with the incident of which the accused is accused, and, accordingly, the prosecutor’s office ordered his arrest and delivery.”
According to the statement, the prosecution followed the route of the perpetrator on the day when the person who appeared before the prosecutor’s office decided that it was the day the accused husband committed the murder, and seized evidence confirming the veracity of his story, and moved him to the place where he supervised the burial of the body of the victim, and found him there. detention for 4 days pending investigation.
