Questions about her fate… Who will inherit Queen Elizabeth’s most famous crown?

Inside the late Queen Elizabeth II’s vault, one of the largest and most expensive private jewelery collections in the world, lies some 50 stunning tiaras, raising questions about her fate and who will inherit it next.

Especially since some crowns and brooches, as well as ceremonial scepters and rings are part of the Royal Crown Jewels, which are on display at the Tower of London and are visited by about 2.5 million tourists annually.

It is a precious collection of ceremonial items, some of which date back 800 years.

However, according to the New York Post, it does not belong to a person, but to the royal crown, whoever the king is.

Likewise, there is the Royal Collection, which contains the most extensive works of art by the royal family and is the largest private collection in the world, totaling more than a million pieces, some of which date back to the time of Henry VIII.

The royal collection itself is divided into two parts, with most of the items held in trust by the reigning monarch at the time, and then there is the Queen’s personal collection.

This mainly consists of items she has inherited, given to her by family members (her grandmother Queen Mary was known for her love of jewelery and was particularly a fan of tiaras) or bought herself.

It is also believed that many of Queen Elizabeth’s distinctive tiaras are in her personal collection, so in theory she could give them to anyone she wanted.

In this context, royal journalist Josh Rome said that “it is possible that he will want to pass on items from his private collection to his loved ones”, noting that “the bulk of the collection will be passed on to Charles with Camilla as his queen and then kit.”

Over the years, Queen Elizabeth has lent many of her jewels to members of the family for special occasions.

In 2011, Kate Middleton wore a Cartier Halo tiara, which contains nearly 1,000 diamonds, at her wedding to Prince William, while Meghan Markle wore a stunning ring to her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. Dressed in Art Deco style. It was a tiara that had not been seen in public since the 1940s.

At Princess Eugenie’s wedding, also in 2018, the Queen’s grandson wore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which contains rose-cut diamonds and six large emeralds, inherited by the Queen Mother in 1942 but worn by a female royal in public. It was not covered.

Two years later, Eugenie’s sister Beatrice wore Queen Mary’s famous tiara at her wedding, which contained 47 fine diamonds, originally lent by Queen Mary to then-Princess Elizabeth for her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947.

Thus, Rome suggested, the queen may have recommended that the crowns be given to these young women of the family who borrowed crowns at their weddings, saying that “she has things to give to her loved ones and it would make sense to give them something. You know they’ll love it.”

However, he clarified: If I leave these items to them, considering that the tax is up to 40% of the value of the inheritance and some of these crowns are worth millions, they will have to pay the inheritance tax that I have left for them. The Queen should consider whether it would be better to simply keep the tiaras in the royal collection and borrow them for special occasions.
