A memorandum of understanding on the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline was signed in Rabat between the Economic Community of West African States (CEDAO), Nigeria and Morocco.

The agreement was signed by ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalization Sediko Duka, President and CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Malam Melle Kolo Kyari representing Nigeria, and CEO of Westernization Benkara State for Green.

“This agreement confirms the commitment of the Economic Community of West African States and all countries through which the pipeline will pass to contribute to the implementation of this important project, which, when completed, will provide gas to all West African countries, and also provide a route for new ones to be exported to Europe.

The strategic Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project will stretch along the coast of West Africa from Nigeria through Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania, all the way to Morocco.

It will be linked to the Maghreb-European Gas Pipeline and the European Gas Network. It will also allow supply to the countries of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali, which do not border the sea.
