A number of Scottish Celtic fans were keen to thwart a minute’s silence for the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday, chanting hateful slogans against the entire royal family.
According to the British newspaper “Metro”, fans in the stands chanted a written slogan that read: “If you hate the royal family, clap your hands.”
In this context, the fans of the Scottish team “Dundee United” chanted slogans against the late queen during the local league game against the Rangers team.
The European Football Union “UEFA” had taken measures against the Celtic team before the match against Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine in Poland in the framework of the European Champions League, because of the slogans that mocked the departure of Queen Elizabeth.
These slogans provoked widespread controversy on social platforms amid dissatisfaction with the lack of attention to the human moment associated with death.
Dissenters said differences over political figures are understandable, but death has some respect.
English journalist Piers Morgan criticized what was published by the public, while sports commentator Ian Crocker was forced to apologize for what was published by the public.
“I’m sorry, if you’re hurt by what you’ve heard, most people respected the Queen, but some didn’t,” Crocker said.
