Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed confidence that “2023, in which our republic will celebrate its centenary, will go down in our history as a turning point in our advancement to the front ranks, in the major league of world politics and the economy.”

In a speech given during the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) 140th Anniversary Awards Ceremony, he remarked that “his government, which has managed to overcome many crises and challenges in recent years, will make the inflation problem only a memory from the past”, explaining that ” the main condition for this (solution of the problem of inflation) is the preservation of an atmosphere of stability and trust in the country.

Erdogan stressed that “next year 2023 is of great importance for this”, referring to the date of the country’s presidential elections in June next year. He focused on “we will go through 2023 safely, without incident, completing our major projects, taking advantage of the opportunities presented to our country by global events, and successfully completing elections through the People’s Alliance.”

Inflation rose year on year in August last year to 80.21 percent.
