Former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski removed a statement from social media in which he thanked the United States for sabotaging the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

In a tweet published by Sikorsky last Tuesday, Sikorsky thanked the United States for destroying the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipeline and attached a photo from the accident site and the #Nordstream hashtag to the post.

He also cited US President Joe Biden’s statement on February 7, when Biden indicated that “the US will put an end to the Nord Stream project if Russian troops cross the Ukrainian border.”

Sikorski’s tweet was met with criticism in Poland, and was called “extremely irresponsible, as well as a demand to check the sources of the politician’s funding, as well as his earnings as a member of the European Parliament.”

Two days ago, last Wednesday, Sikorsky attempted to refute his tweet about US involvement in Russian gas pipeline sabotage, saying it was “a personal working hypothesis.”

He noted that he was “happy that the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 1 and 2, which the Polish government has opposed for 20 years, has paralyzed it by three quarters,” and stressed that “this is good for Poland, expressing the hope that “ the Danish investigation will find those responsible for what happened,” although he had previously thanked the United States of America for what happened.
