The new airport will be built in one of Luanda's satellite cities, Viana

The US$160 million Government of Angola contract with the now-disbanded Portuguese company A1V2 had been signed in 2016.

The Angolan government withdrew the Portuguese company A1V2 from supervising the construction of the railway access to the Nueva Luanda International Airport, a contract that will now pass into the hands of the Lebanese company Dar.

According to presidential order 45/23, to which Lusa had access, the inspection entity was ” absent from work for a long period” and expressed “unavailability to resume work” after being notified by the owner of the work (the Ministry of Transport of Angola), which led to the appointment of an internal inspection commission.

The contract is worth 160 million dollarsAccording to information consulted on the website of the Portuguese company, it had been held in 2016.

Given the complexity of the project It is urgent to hire a new specialized control body, with technical capacity commensurate with the size of the work.in order to guarantee the total execution of the project, in accordance with the requirements and standards demanded, thus replacing the previously contracted entity”, reads the diploma.

The order authorizes an expense for a global amount of 682.5 million kwanzas (1.3 million euros), awarding the contract through simplified contracting (direct adjustment) to Dar Angola of Lebanese origin.
