Wagner Group Chief Warns Ammunition Shortage Amid kyiv Counteroffensive “inevitable”

Head of the Wagner group criticizes blockades of ammunition shipments before “inevitable” Ukrainian counteroffensive. “There is a criminal order not to send us ammunition.”

The head of the Wagner paramilitary group returned this Wednesday to criticize the blockades in the shipment of ammunition to his forces, involved in the Russian offensive in Bakhmut, eastern Ukraine, warning that the situation will worsen with the “inevitable” Ukrainian counter-offensive.

“There is a criminal order not to send us ammunition, the ammunition that accumulates in warehouses, as I said before. Wagner’s ranks are dwindling, among the dead, wounded and those who terminated their contract,” Yevgeny Prigozhin said in an audio message posted on his Telegram channel.

Prigozhin warned that Ukraine’s counteroffensive “is inevitable”. “Today [dia 26 de abril] it’s raining. On May 2 the last rains will fall. It will take a week for the wind to dry the land, and then the Ukrainian Army is ready to go, ”he indicated, noting that there is no precise date for the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

The head of the Wagner group also assured that the Ukrainian army will try to cut the flanks of the partial Russian encirclement around Bakhmut, and considered that the Russian forces are not prepared to resist this confrontation, in a new criticism of the Ministry of Defence.

Prigozhin assured that new reserves of men are being prepared for combat, who will only be sent after the respective training to “defend the interests of the State.”

“The Wagner group has already fulfilled its historic mission, but it will continue to fulfill it down to the last combatant. As I said, we are crushing the reserves of the Ukrainian army. Today, the enemy sends better-prepared units to Bakhmut, ”he noted.

The head of the paramilitary group also pointed out that there is an increase in the number of Polish mercenaries and Ukrainian special troops units, and that it motivates a “very bloody” battle for Bakhmut.

Without mentioning names, he stated that he had a list of those responsible for blocking the shipment of ammunition to the Wagner group, stressing that “those who make this decision must answer to the mothers of the fallen.”

“There is treason inside Russia. They do not allow us to prepare the defense or start an offense. But we will get ahead no matter what. Just to crush the Ukrainian army and thwart its offensive, ”he stressed.

It was not the first time that Prigozhin referred to the lack of diverse materiel for his units, and last February he censured the Russian Defense Minister, Serguei Shoigu, and the Chief of the General Staff, General Valeri Gerasimov.

At the time, he also denied the withdrawal of his forces from Bakhmut, but said “twice as many fighters would be killed”.

The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).
