Climate activist was arrested and charged for the second time in two months, in connection with a protest that blocked traffic upon arrival at the port of Malmö, Sweden. He could face a prison sentence.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested this Friday and charged with disobedience to police, her second arrest for the same crime in less than two months.
The news was reported by the Reuters agency, which tells how Greta was, along with other activists, blocking traffic on a road where fuel is transported to the port of Malmö, in the south of Sweden.
“The demonstration had not been authorized and caused traffic to be blocked. “The woman refused to obey police orders to leave the area,” the prosecutor’s office explained in a statement.
Greta Thunberg had already been convicted of the same crime in relation to a protest that took place in September and had to pay a fine of 1,500 Swedish crowns (about 125 euros), according to the BBC. Now, when he is retried on September 27, he could face a harsher sentence, up to six months in prison, for being a repeat offender.
