Obama and Hillary Clinton reiterate their support for Biden after a “bad night of debate”

“This election remains a choice between someone who has fought for everyday people his entire life and someone who only cares about himself,” Obama wrote on Platform X.

Former US President Barack Obama on Friday defended current President Joe Biden, alongside former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, following harsh criticism of the Democratic candidate’s performance in Thursday’s debate.

“Bad debate nights happen. Believe me, I know.. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary people his entire life and someone who cares only about himself,” Obama wrote in Platform X, in a comparison between Biden and his Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

“Among the one who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will tell it directly to the American people, and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. “Last night that didn’t change, and that’s why there is so much at stake in November.”

Former US Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also publicly expressed her support for her party’s current candidate for the November election on Friday.

“The choice in these elections remains very simple. It’s a choice between someone who cares about you (your rights, your prospects, your future) and someone who is only doing this for themselves. “I’m going to vote for Biden,” said the veteran politician, also on platform X.

Biden saw his candidacy weakened in the November elections after having voice problems, incoherent answers and verbal lapses in the first face-to-face under Trump in four years, a performance that managed to eclipse the roughly 30 false statements – according to CNN’s count – that the Republican rival presented in a calm and confident record.

The question of the candidates’ ages, especially Biden’s 81 years, has been in the spotlight in recent months, with the current head of state being a frequent target of ridicule from his 78-year-old opponent.

Biden, who is the oldest sitting president in United States history, had the challenge of demonstrating during the debate his physical and mental capacity to defeat Trump and lead the country for another four years.

However, the task proved difficult in the face of a restrained and unflappable Trump, who resorted to false statements on several occasions throughout the debate.

This Friday, during a campaign event in North Carolina, The US president admitted that he did not speak or debate “as well as before”, but argued that he was fit for another four years in office.
