The Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris, and her Republican rival, Donald Trump, tied this Tuesday in Dixville Notch, historically the first place in the country to vote on Election Day.
The six electors of Dixville Notch, in the state of New Hampshire (northeast of the USA), voted at midnight (five in the morning in Lisbon) and the results were not long in coming: three votes for the former president and three for the vice president.
This tie seems to corroborate the surveys that show very close results in the most important states of these elections.

The tradition of voting in the first minutes of election day in this area of the northeastern United States dates back to 1936 and, since then, only two presidents have obtained all of the residents’ votes: Republican Richard Nixon, in 1936 , and Joe Biden in 2020.
