Spanish Maritime Rescue rescued 160 migrants of sub-Saharan origin in two boats. Those rescued, including children, were transferred to Lanzarote and El Hierro.
In the last few hours, Maritime Rescue rescued more than 160 occupants of sub-Saharan origin from two boats, and transferred them to the islands of Lanzarote and El Hierro, in the Canary Islands, in Spain.
The first rescue was carried out after the Civil Guard was alerted of the detection of the boat by the crew of the Salvamar Adhara, which transported 101 people who were in a canoe.
These 101 people, including 97 men, two women and two minors, were transferred to El Hierro, where they disembarked at 4:20 local time (3:20 in Lisbon).
The alert about the second vessel was given by a fishing boat and another rescue device was activated 107.4 kilometers east-northeast of Lanzarote.
The Guardamar Urania was sent to the scene, whose crew rescued 67 people who were in the inflatable boat, including five women and a minor.
