Christian Ghazi (1934–2013) is considered one of the pioneers of serious and militant independent cinema since his feature film The Fedayeen (1967). Her work focuses on refugee issues and life in the camps, so there is no better month for her return than in the Nakba.
At the initiative of the Club for All People, the Sursock Museum is presenting the documentary film Why Resistance? 25th May. The tape (shot in 1971) included interviews with Palestinian and Arab figures such as the martyr Ghassan Kanafani, a writer and wrestler. The speakers explained their perspective on the Arab-Israeli conflict and shared their perspective on the Palestinian revolution, its future and the importance of the Palestinian liberation movement.

Teach Your Children to Love Arabic Calligraphy
Arabic calligraphy is a major symbol of culture and civilization in the Arab and Islamic worlds, despite the decline in the number of calligraphers, this year UNESCO included it in the list of intangible heritage in the world, considering this expresses integrity and beauty. Due to the importance and aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy, Salma Alwan Studio launched an Arabic calligraphy training workshop that will last until May 31. This workshop is for children, youth and families. Noting that “Alvan Salma” is a creative studio that combines a love for fine arts and needlework, offering the population a range of lessons in drawing, crochet, patchwork and Arabic calligraphy.

Giselle sews on Eid al-Adha: Beirut is a source of “tenderness”
Returning to Beirut to fight the elections and discovering that her city is still here despite everything, Lebanese-Canadian writer and journalist Giselle Hayat Eid decided to hold a signing ceremony for her book, which was published in French under the title “Tender” in Beit. Tabaris, starting at 6:00 p.m. From this Friday night, proceeds from the book sale will go to the Saint Vincent de Paul Association, which cares for the disabled.
In this book, the author wants to share his love for Beirut with readers by writing about forty short stories characterized by humor and nostalgia for his hometown. When he was stranded by the coronavirus and forced to stay in Canada, the author was deeply disappointed to be away from the country and his family. At the time, he could not express his anger at what happened in the city when he was away and at the destruction of his childhood home in the Beirut bombing. The actress said that writing is the only healthy way for her to recover from the devastating psychological impact she has experienced and erase the image of destruction that has accumulated in her mind due to recent events.

Abdullah Shehade… “Green Football Poet”
Abdullah Shehadeh (1910 – 1985) was called the “poet of green football” after a fruitful and practical creative career. He received his first education in the schools of Kusba (North Lebanon), attended St. Joseph University ”in Beirut and received a certificate of higher education in the history of classical Arabic literature, a certificate in the pillars of Arab society, a third certificate in the history and civilization of the Middle East, fourth in Arabic Jurisprudence and a Diploma in Oriental Studies in all these areas.
He then received his PhD in Arabic Literature from the Ecumenical Church of St. Andrews in the UK. He has taught in many Lebanese schools and has received numerous certificates, awards and medals. He was one of the most well -known founders and members of the Northern Literary Association, in addition to his publications such as The Green Hut (1937) and the plays Butaina and Jamil (1937). Shehade’s poetry is dominated by a lyrical spirit, rich imagination and sweetness. The Green Football Forum welcomes the poet to a festival held on 27 May at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. Hosted by Ahmed Bazal, the festival will feature Culture Minister Muhammad al-Murtada and several poets familiar with Shehade’s experience. The symposium included reading excerpts from the poetry of the late poet artist Jihad Atrash.
