German music group BMG announced on Thursday that they have acquired the full rights to French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre.

The deal, whose value was not disclosed, is BMG’s largest contract in France, according to the group.
The contract is part of a growing trend of late to buy the rights to form music groups from big companies in a sector that attracts them, especially the big profits from streaming services.
BMG currently acquires rights to the works of well-known artists including Lenny Craftis and Kylie Minogue.
Jean-Michel Jarre, 73, sold 85 million albums in his career and broke several records with huge concerts around the world, including a party at La Défense in the French capital in 1990, which was attended by 2.5 million viewers.
Commenting on the deal, Jarre said in a statement: “I am happy that the rights to my entire musical group will be here in Europe and that my business will continue to grow in good hands.”
