Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez, has announced that a fourth drilling ship will arrive in the country on May 19, to join his fleet of drilling ships.
He added in a speech on Monday at a meeting in Istanbul on oil industry technologies that the fourth drilling ship had spent nearly two months sailing to Turkey, without revealing who it came from.
He explained that the ship, which will first go to the port of Mersin, in the south of the country, will remain for about two months to complete the necessary preparations for the exploration.
He indicated that the said ship will start excavation after its painting and the culmination of other tests.
He stressed that the fourth drillship is classified into the seventh generation of deep drilling ships, pointing out that there are no drilling ships beyond them in technology.
In a related context, the Turkish minister said they drilled 112 wells in the ground last year, highlighting their intention to raise this number to 150 wells by the end of 2022.
Earlier, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of the largest gas field in Turkey’s history in the Black Sea, with reserves of 320 billion cubic meters, and later announced higher estimates after discovering 85 billion cubic meters. additional cubic meters.
