The Al-Qabas newspaper quoted Kuwaiti National Assembly president Marzouq Al-Ghanim as saying there were positive signs about the issue of exempting Kuwaitis from “Schengen” visas.
In this regard, the Speaker of the Parliament of Kuwaiti said: “The indicators of the meetings of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation with the heads of committees and parties in the European Parliament are very positive about the Schengen visa exemption file for the people of Kuwaiti. ” explaining that European Parliament approval is a basic requirement to complete this dossier.
Al-Ghanim indicated, in a press release after a series of meetings he held on June 1 with senior European Parliament officials in Brussels, that “the (Schengen) visa waiver file for Kuwaiti citizens was released from the European Commission, and requires the approval of the European Parliament and the European Council ”.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait pointed out that “approval takes place in the European Parliament by a vote of the decision approving the exemption of Kuwaitis from (Schengen) visas, where there have been several meetings… including the leader. of (delegation) Committee on Relations with the Countries of the Arabian Peninsula of the European Parliament Dr. Hana Neumann, President of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament María Arena, and President of the Socialist Party and Democrat of Parliament, Aracia García Pérez.
Al-Ghanim continued his speech about the development of this archive, saying: “They are important and influential voting blocs, and all the archives and issues related to Kuwait have been addressed, and there are many question, because eventually there may be confusion. apart from a few that if the Commission finalizes the Kuwait file. Now there is an exemption from (Schengen), and this is not true at all. Kuwait cannot be exempt from “Schengen” obligations unless after the European Parliament has voted to approve this dossier.
