Washington admits: inflation started before the war in Ukraine

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen acknowledged the impact of U.S. sanctions against Russia on rising inflation and U.S. fuel prices.

“The embargo on Russian oil insurance could have an impact,” Yellen said at a seminar organized by the “New York Times” on Thursday, commenting on the causes of inflation in the United States.

He noted that prices were rising even before the events began in Ukraine, as there was an impact of economic recovery after the Corona virus epidemic.

Yellen stressed that sanctions against Russia will remain, noting that “sanctions by the United States and the European Union have a major impact on Russia, and they will remain.”

It should be noted that the United States has announced a ban on the import of oil and its derivatives from Russia due to Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

The United States recently saw the highest inflation rate in 40 years and recorded prices for gasoline.
