Joe Biden on Independence Day: America ‘failed’ and looked like ‘retreating’

President Joe Biden celebrated Independence Day on Monday, but continued gun violence and the Supreme Court’s Roe v. wade.

“Freedom is under attack here and abroad,” he said, referring to the Supreme Court. “There are reasons to think that this country has shrunk in recent days, that freedom has shrunk, that the rights we thought were protected are no longer protected.”

The President spoke to Americans from the White House as part of a barbecue with military personnel.

He changed his presidential campaign slogan, stating that the country was “in the ongoing battle for the soul of America.”

“I know it’s been tiring and stressful, but I want you to know that we went through everything tonight,” he said, referring to the country’s political divisions.

The President described the United States as “a project that failed in many ways, but continues to this day.”

While Biden welcomed the new gun control law he signed in June, he noted that there was still something to be done, referring to the mass shooting in Chicago.

“You’ve all heard what happened today. We are reminded every day that there is nothing guaranteed about our democracy, nothing guaranteed about our way of life. We have to fight for it, protect it and make money by voting,” he said.

He urged Americans to direct their efforts towards development and “rededicate themselves to great experimentation.”

“Because America is always evolving, always moving, always improving,” Biden said. “This is an important word, an important thought, an important record in the lives of our people. Development. Advanced movement. ”

He urged Americans to vote for the betterment of the country and not to despair.

“We have to fight for it, protect it, and make money by voting,” he said.

The president is also proud of the strong economy despite high inflation and gas prices.

“Despite all the challenges, America has the strongest economy in the world,” Biden said.
