PCP questions the Government about the increase in the cost of living

The Parliamentary Group of PCP will question the Government this Thursday in the Assembly of the Republic about the price increase and the degradation of living conditions and the need from the party’s point of view to salary and pension value.

The fundamental themes of the debate are related to the problems that the Portuguese feel every day”, the communist deputy Bruno Dias told the Lusa agency.

For this reason, he scheduled a debate to question the Government about what the party considers to be the daily deterioration of the living conditions of the Portuguese, as a result of the increase in the prices of basic necessities and fuel, combined with stagnant wages and pensions.

Just over a week ago, the six PCP deputies celebrated the first days of the new political cycle. At the moment of presenting the solutions, the party reissued several proposals that it had already presented, but that did not go beyond the discussion in general.

THE absolute majority of the PS has made unfeasible the proposals that the communists consider indispensablebut the party insists on them to counteract the “situation of impoverishment” of the population.

“A proposal that is fair must continue to be defended. We must continue affirming a different policy, which is necessary”, summarized Bruno Dias.

The cereal shortagesymptom of the war in Ukraine, is another problem with which Portugal, like other countries, is struggling, but for the communists there is an immediate solution path: invest in national production.

“One aspect that has become increasingly evident is the need to defend our sovereignty, our national production and combat external dependency (…). You have to produce here to stop importing”the deputy said.

Farmers, fishermen and small businessmen need to “do working conditions for your activity are not guaranteed by the government“, which also has to guarantee a greater supply capacity than what is produced.

The debate was initially scheduled for Wednesday, but the presentation by Chega of a motion of censure to the Government -which ended up being rejected- postponed it to this Thursday.
