A European project led by the Institute of Engineering, Technology and Science of Systems and Informatics (INESC TEC), in Porto, will support eight companies to develop technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of the industry, it was announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Porto institute clarifies that the initiative to finance technological solutions that contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the industry falls within the scope of the Demo4Green project, whose objective is contribute to the green and digital transformation of this European sector.
Led by INESC TEC, the project will support eight companies in the development of innovative technologies that “promote the reduction of the carbon footprint” and respond to the challenges of sustainabilitysuch as reducing the consumption of raw materials, energy, water or waste, and increasing the use of resources from renewable sources.
The selected companies will receive a voucher of 10 thousand euros to demonstrate their solution in the Teaching and Learning Factories based in eight European countries (Portugal, Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy and Poland).
Quoted in the statement, researcher Ana Simões clarifies that the project “will support SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), Opening Y extensionsgiving them the opportunity to demonstrate their digital and innovative solutions, according to the ‘test before you invest‘ (test before investing)”.
In Portugal, the company will be able to install the technology in the Industry and Innovation Laboratory (iilab) of INESC TEC.
The selected projects will have access to personalized mentoring for technological and business development, financing strategies or intellectual property, training on how to implement a demonstrator, or support for communication activities, through the development of promotional material, among other initiatives, says Ana Simões.
Applications for the contest can be submitted using a form available on the Demo4Green project website, until August 13.
Co-financed by EIT Manufacturing, the Demo4Green project brings together eight partners from eight European countries and aims to spread the demonstration of digital technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of industry, in high-tech infrastructures.
