Altice Portugal’s revenues rose 14% in the first half, year-on-year, to 1,254.2 million euros, and in the second quarter the evolution was 16.5%, the owner of Meo announced on Wednesday.
In the first six months of this year, Altice Portugal’s revenues increased by 14%, compared to the same period of 2021, to 1,254.2 million euros, and the result before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization ( EBITDA) increases 8.9% to 454.3 million euros.
In this period, “investment amounted to 225.2 million euros”.
In the second quarter, revenues “grew 16.5% compared to the previous year, reaching 641.8 million euros”. Excluding the contribution from Unisono (company acquired in August 2021), the variation in revenue was 8.7%.
In the same period, EBITDA increases by 9.1% to 232.3 million euros.
“This level of EBITDA growth is based on the progressive expansion of the subscriber base and the increase in the average value contributed, boosting revenue, but also on the discipline of controlling operating costs,” explains the company.
Investment grew by 4.5% in the second quarter, year-on-year, to 122.3 million euros”,enhancing the reinforcement in the mobile networkwhich registered a 4G penetration of 99.8% in the quarter and, once again, promoting the expansion of the largest fiber optic network in the country, which added another 59 thousand new homes, totaling 6.13 million fiber homes to date optics in the national territory”, including 5.4 million in the hands of Fastfiber (5.2 million in the same period of the previous year).
“The growth of the fixed and mobile businesses, the customer base and the company’s service portfolio, combined with the implementation of effective strategic planning and the operational initiatives undertaken, was decisive for the evolution of revenues in this quarter” says the company led. by Ana Figueiredo.
In the second quarter, “the focus is on the penetration of 5G, a fundamental technology to consolidate Altice Portugal’s strategy of connecting people with the best available technology; conscious choice of a converged portfolio and offerings that support greater value and a better customer experience; and the continuous investment in integrated solutions, in reliable connectivity and in advanced network technologies”, which “led to the maintenance of transversal leadership in services in the dispute over market dynamics”, highlights the head of Meo.
During this quarter, Altice Portugal “registered 42.8 thousand net additions in fixed services and individual customers in the consumer segment grew by 18.2 thousand in the last 12 months”.
The mobile business “has 217.2 thousand net additions of which 68,300 were postpaid customers this quarter”, adds the owner of Meo, who highlights that “the fundamental lever was the persistence of the rate of additions in combination with the maintenance of churn at record levels”.
In the period under review, the company opened another four new Meo stores.
Revenues from the consumer segment “demonstrated a resilient behavior”, says Altice Portugal, having evolved by 5.4% to 320.2 million euros.
“This was also driven by the growth of the unique customer base, which expanded 1.1% in the last 12 months, due to the increase in ARPU [receita média por cliente] and the growth of the energy customer base and associated revenues, which currently represents around 3% of total revenues” from this segment and which “doubled” in annual terms in the second quarter.
Business Services Segment Revenue rose to 321.6 million euros in the second quarter”which translates into a year-on-year variation of 30.2%, or 278.5 million euros, +12.7%, excluding the contribution of Unisono in the 2nd quarter of 2022, a company acquired in August 2021″.
In the period under review, “Altice Labs reinforced its ‘track record’ in exporting technological innovation to the global market, with products and solutions used in 60 countries, on five continents, benefiting more than 300 million people”.
