Paula Ribeiro: the birth of Compal Fresco

This article is the responsibility of Compal

Compal is really fruit, ever since. This is our identity and what is at the base of all our products and with the latest range of juices we are able to go further in this purpose. The new Compal Fresco is 100% fruit but, more than that, it is fresh fruit, it tastes like freshly picked fruit. And how do we manage to make this “freshly harvested juice”? Paula Ribeiro, Conceptual Innovation Marketing Manager at Sumol+Compal, explains everything to us.

As soon as we look at the bottles, we can see that there is something new here. The design of the packaging, practical and comfortable to wear, is different from what we already knew and is made of recycled plastic. But what exactly is the importance of this plastic? For its production, no virgin raw materials were used, that is, we do not generate more plastic, we use what has already been produced before. We promote the circular economy, which is why these containers are also 100% recyclable.

Juices made with Portuguese fruits

It is in these containers that the juices made with exclusively Portuguese fruits are found, in a tribute to the orchards and national producers. “The choice of Portuguese fruit is obviously motivated by taste, because we know that Portuguese fruit is good, but it is also motivated to promote Portuguese fruit. We help the Portuguese economy continue to develop and, assuming our responsibility for the footprint of the world, here we reduce the distance between the fruit, the harvest of the fruit in the orchard and production”, says Paula Ribeiro.

This choice was combined with an innovative technology in the Compal ranges: the use of HPP technology. The main objective was to keep the essence of the fruit in the bottle, to give the juices the unmistakable flavor of freshly picked fruit from the orchard, and this was only possible by rethinking the methods of transportation and processing. “Simply put, HPP technology does not use any temperature during the entire production process and, without heating, there are no organoleptic changes. The fruit is always cold, from start to finish,” explains Paula Ribeiro.

This is the latest innovation venture for Compal and Paula who, when she joined Sumol+Compal six years ago, only had one simple task: fill a blank sheet of ideas with ideas. Curious? Watch the video and learn about its history and the new Compal Fresco.
