Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir received Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, Head of Investment in Africa and Asia at the Qatar Investment Authority, where they discussed issues of joint cooperation in the field of maritime transport.
Al-Thani led the delegation, which included representatives of Maha Capital (MAHA), a company specializing in investment management in seaports.
The talks focused on supporting the development of trade and economic relations between the two brotherly countries in the field of ports and specialized stations, especially on how the Qatari side can participate in the development of existing container terminals in Egyptian ports by pumping direct investment into development and improve the efficiency of the superstructure and working equipment and the use of the latest technological systems in management and operation.
During the meeting, the Minister of Transport stressed that “Egypt’s transport sector is experiencing a great boom and that there are promising investment opportunities in this area, such as the establishment of new maritime terminals for conventional goods, the establishment of logistics centers and dry ports, and linking them with railways to to promote increased trade and turnover at ports in order to achieve the larger goal of making Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
