The European Commission has agreed to pay 21 billion euros to Italy as part of the second installment of the Recovery Fund.

The European Commission has given a positive opinion on the allocation of the second tranche of the Recovery and Resilience Fund for Italy in the amount of 21 billion euros, of which 11 billion euros is for aid.

This was announced by the press secretary of the European Commission for Economics Ferrel Neuitz during a press conference on Tuesday in Brussels.

A positive preliminary assessment will be submitted to the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Council, which has 4 weeks to give its opinion.

On 28 June 2022, Italy submitted a funding request to the Commission for 45 goals for the second tranche of the Recovery Fund, covering reforms in public employment, public procurement, the teaching profession, tax administration and regional health.

The second payment package also aims to invest in key policy areas, including ultra-broadband cellular networks and 5G technology, research and innovation, tourism and culture, hydrogen energy, urban renewal, and digitization of the education sector, in addition to supporting justice reform. and reduce backlogs.

The European Recovery Fund is providing Italy with 209 billion euros in non-performing loans and assistance, to be received in installments over six years.
