Executive leaves Apple after sexist comment in viral video on TikTok

Tony Blevins, one of Apple’s top executives in logistics operations, is leaving the technology. The departure was confirmed by Tim Cook’s company to Bloomberg, which does not mention the reason for the departure.

Blevins’ departure comes after the executive was “caught” in a video shared on TikTok on September 5, which has since gone viral. In the video, Blevins appears getting out of a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren when asked what he does in life to have such a car.

“I have expensive cars, I play golf and I caress women with big breasts, but I take weekends and important vacations off,” can be heard in the video, shared by Daniel Mac. This content creator makes videos of this genre frequently, where he meets people with high-end cars and asks what they work on.

Bloomberg explains that Apple did not comment further on the exit, but cites a document in which Blevins apologizes for “a failed attempt at humor.”

The commentary in the 25-second video attempts to reference the 1981 film “Arthur,” explains Bloomberg. In one scene, Arthur Bach describes his career in a similar phrase. “I drive cars, play tennis and fondle women, but I have weekends off and I’m my own boss.”

While the description of the type of work done by Blevins is more cartoonish, in reality the executive is responsible for negotiating deals with vendors and partners, not just driving and playing golf. The new iPhone 14 Pro that the company presented earlier this month, with satellite emergency services, is the result of a partnership with the satellite company Globalstar, something that the executive, who worked for 22 years at Apple, probably negotiated.
