About a year and a half ago, Tiago Flores took on a new challenge: to be the Country manager from Xiaomi in Portugal. The brand was not entirely unknown to the Portuguese – affordable phones were already a calling card – but the creation of a local team was seen as a new chapter in the presence of technology here.
“We have had results and a feedback very positive aspect of a brand that, even before the constitution of a local team, was already very present in the market and already had many consumers”, explains Tiago Flores to the Observer.
The strategy for Portugal goes through the “commitment” to launch technology “at fair prices”says this official. “We believe that technology has to be inclusive and not exclusive and for the greatest number of situations in our daily lives. So we don’t feel like we should focus on just one category or product area and we believe that from a technology standpoint we have the ability to develop from a smartphone experience to categories like vacuum cleaners.”
