Strike in CP suppressed 57 of the 253 trains scheduled until 8 in the morning

CP canceled almost a fifth of the trains scheduled between 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. this Wednesday, 57 of the 253 scheduled, due to the carrier’s engineers’ strike, according to data sent by the company to Lusa.

CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that of the 66 regional trains planned 23 calls were not made and in the urban areas of Lisbon were 115 programmed and 24 deleted.

In the urban areas of Porto, 53 were planned for that period, six having been suppressed.

As for long-distance trains, such as Tuesday, all connections (11) planned were made until 8 a.m.

The strike was called by the National Union of Machinists of the Portuguese Railways (SMAQ) against the latest proposal for a salary increase of 51 euros, which represents an average professional progression of 3.89%, which the union structure considers “clearly unacceptable “.

The workers began the strike to carry out each and every one of the jobs of the categories represented by the SMAQ, from late Thursday until early Saturday morning.

From midnight on Saturday and until 11:59 p.m. next Friday (the 17th), the workers will carry out a “strike to the provision of work to all normal daily work periods that have an expected duration of more than seven hours and 30 minutes, for the categories of Machinist or Machinist Technician”.

According to the union, from 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and until 11:59 p.m. on Friday there is a “work provision strike in all normal daily work hours that involve entering and/or leaving the headquarters between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., those of Machinist or Machinist Technician”, and, between 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday and 11:59 p.m. on Friday, “stop in all normal work periods that have an expected duration of more than six hours, for the category Traction Inspector or Chief Traction Inspector”.

The arbitration court decreed minimum services of around 30% nationwide, as well as what is necessary for the safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities and emergency services and rescue trains.

In February, strikes called by various CP unions led to the abolition of hundreds of convoys per day.
