The average monthly salary in the public sector grows 6% to 1,730.2 euros in January

The average monthly base salary in the public administration increased by 6.4% in January compared to the same period last year, up to 1,730.2 euros, it was announced this Wednesday.

“In January 2024, the value of the average monthly base remuneration of full-time workers in the public administration sector stood at 1,730.2 euros, which corresponds to a global average variation of 4.3% more compared to the reference month of the previous quarter (October 2023) and an interannual variation of 6.4%“, reads the statistical summary of public employment of the General Directorate of Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP).

The combined effect of the entry and exit of workers with different levels of remuneration, of the appreciation measures approved for workers in the public sector and the updating the value of the minimum wage to 820 euros and the value of the Remuneration Base of Public Administrations to 821.83 euros.

The career of the rest of the security personnel in the regional and local administration stands out (22.5%).

The average monthly profit of public administrations is estimated at 2,043.5 euros in January, 3.7% more compared to the previous quarter and 6.6% more compared to the same period last year.

The increase in the average monthly base remuneration and other components, such as subsidies and periodic supplements, contributed to the year-on-year variation.

“The component of the profit related to the payment of overtime shows a slight decrease,” he explained.

Regarding the average monthly income (year-on-year comparison), the careers of firefighter (44.7%), PJ — Judicial Police (28.5%) and PSP — Public Security Police (28.5%) stand out.
