Union of Justice Officials calls for an indefinite strike

The Union of Justice Officials (SOJ) announced this Friday a strike starting June 28, on Wednesday and Friday mornings, which will last until their salary and professional demands are accepted.

“Judicial officials, assuming their responsibilities, as they always do, will reinforce the struggle by going on strike. starting next June 28, on Wednesdays and Fridays, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.for an indefinite period, until their demands are secured,” the union said in a statement.

According to the SOJ, the reasons for the “social conflict” that has now lasted 18 months persist, since the Government, in the negotiations, “did not present anything significant to improve the socio-professional situation of the sheriffs or their working conditions.” . change.”

For the union, resolving the conflict “is simple,” It is enough for the Government to comply with the electoral program presented to the Portuguese in the last elections.

In the strike now called, the SOJ demands the review of the salary table attached to the Statute of Judicial Officials and the inclusion in the expiration of the procedural recovery supplement with effect from January 1, 2021, that is, the payment of the monthly payment. amount in 14 annual installments.

In addition, the union demands the opening of the promotion and access procedure to all categories whose positions remain vacant, as well as the opening of a competition for access to the career of Judicial Secretary.

On June 5, the president of the SOJ justified not signing an agreement with the Ministry of Justice, stating that the Government’s proposal “should be strengthened.”

At the end of the meeting with the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice, Carlos Almeida told journalists that the proposal presented was very identical to that of the last meeting, although the Government had increased one percentage point (from 12.5% ​​to ​​13.5). % ) the value of the increase in the procedural recovery complement attributed to judicial agents.

Despite this slight increase of 1%, the SOJ leader regretted that the Government has waived retroactively applying the increase in the procedural recovery supplement to January 2021, which will only be paid from June 1.

At that time, the other union structure, the Union of Judicial Employees (SFJ), reached an agreement with the Government on the procedural recovery supplement, considering it a “first step” on the path towards salary and functional improvement of the career. .
