Electronic Complaints Book receives more than a million complaints in 7 years

The Electronic Complaints Book (LRE) has received more than one million complaints in the seven years of its activity, which began on Monday, with electronic communications, postal services and networks, electricity, financial services and electrical/electronic devices being the most complained about.

According to a statement released this Monday by the General Directorate of Consumer Affairs (DGC), the LRE – in operation since July 1, 2017 – has received 1,091,866 complaints so far, highlighting The most sought-after sectors of activity are electronic communications services (313,576 complaints), postal network and services (157,471), electricity (70,122), financial services (46,350) and electrical and electronic equipment (45,106).

In total, there are 35 regulatory/supervisory entities registered with the LRE, with the National Communications Authority (Anacom) being the entity leading the handling of complaints in electronic format (with 476,413 complaints), followed by the Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE, with 242,981), the Energy Services Regulatory Entity (ERSE, with 119,058), the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT, with 55,506) and the Bank of Portugal (BdP, with 50,738).

With 406,605 companies and professionals from all areas of economic activity registered, The LRE also received 33,888 requests for information addressed to supervisory or regulatory entities.as well as 6,592 compliments and 3,245 suggestions directed at companies and professionals.

All these statistical data are public and can be consulted on the LRE website (https://www.livroreclamacoes.pt/Inicio/Estatisticas), which is the official source of complaint data in Portugal.

Complaints, however, can only be consulted by the company itself, the target company and the regulatory/supervisory body..

The DGC is the entity responsible for managing the LRE platform and integrating the regulatory and supervisory bodies into it, with the National Currency Office (INCM) as its technological partner.
