The Energy Services Regulatory Authority warns of the abusive use of its name by lawyers for energy clients

The Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) warned on Tuesday against the abusive use of its name by those seeking to attract electricity and natural gas customers and recalled that, as a regulator, it does not sell energy.

In a warning posted on its website, ERSE warned “consumers that there are currently attorneys for electricity and natural gas customers who are misusing the ERSE name as a sales pitch.”

The energy regulator recalled that it does not sell energy, nor does it contact consumers in their homes to check meters or bills and that it only communicates directly with consumers when contacted in advance.

In the alert, ERSE recommends that consumers “Always ask for identification from anyone who approaches you.” Is Do not show or give personal information without first confirming the identity and activity of the person communicating with you.
