The PCP “does not follow” the Budget proposal for 2025, but “almost bets” that it will be approved

Communist Party Secretary General Paulo Raimundo is “almost betting” that the State Budget for 2025 (OE2025) will be approved, but he has guaranteed from now on that the PCP “will not follow” this document.

“I almost bet that this budget will be viable. This is so contradictory. We hear one thing and think ‘that’s it’, then we hear another and think ‘it can’t be’,” the communist leader told reporters on the sidelines of a session dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the National Health Service (SNS), in Amadora this Sunday.

For the PCP, he assured, “the voting option is clear.”

“We do not know the specific document, but I must admit that the Government has a certain consistency: I told the PS, I told everyone, that it is a State Budget that has guidelines,” he said, listing: the Government’s programme, the budgetary restrictions imposed by the European Union and the fundamental options of the PSD/CDS-PP executive, led by Luís Montenegro.

“Given this, even if we don’t know the content, there is no possibility that we will follow a document that has these guidelines,” said Raimundo, who confessed that he finds it “strange” that “there are those who are somewhat uncertain about what they are going to do.”
