An employee of the CTT of Cabo Ruivo, in Lisbon, suspected of stealing money destined for charitable causes, was arrested on Wednesday for a “flagrant crime” and forced to submit biweekly reports, the PSP announced today.
In a statement, the PSP describes that the 52-year-old man, “with prior knowledge, opened letters addressed to certain causes and stole the money contained in the correspondence,” at the CTT Production and Logistics Center in Cabo Ruivo, in Lisbon. .
The police add that after the suspect’s arrest they seized “money and several dozen open letters.”
Suspected of the crimes of postal violence, qualified theft and embezzlement of funds, the detainee was present at the first judicial interrogation, having been suspended from his duties and subject to biweekly presentations.
