Special: Alabama Gov. Ivey John Oliver-Alabama wants nothing to do with his ‘Hollywood-friendly liberal agenda’

On the Sunday broadcast of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight”, host John Oliver shot and killed the Alabama Gov. To Ivey (R), who signed a law earlier this year banning doctors from performing gender reassignment surgery and prescribing puberty blockers and hormones for minors.

The Alabama Vulnerable Children Protection Act (SB184) was signed by Ivey at the end of the 2022 legislative session in Alabama, and promptly received a response from then-Biden White House press secretary Jan Psaki.

Last week, a federal judge passed an injunction banning part of the law that bans puberty blockers and hormone therapy.

But that didn’t stop Oliver from slapping Ivey and saying Alabamas deserved “more” than Ivey as governor.

All – am I right? All of you? I do not think so. You are important. I can’t imagine trying to build self-esteem as a kid while your own government is trying to undermine your existence. But you should know that you are a very important and irreplaceable person. As for Ivy, what’s your problem? I know this is a simple question that will probably have a long and complex answer, but if you put it in words, you will definitely understand: the summer is hot, the ocean is big, and the people of Alabama are worth more than you. .

Ivey, who will be reelected in 2022, is ahead of the rest of the crowded Republican primary gubernatorial field in recent polls.

In a comment to Breitbart News, Ivey criticized Oliver’s “Hollywood, liberal agenda” and said he didn’t care if Oliver was offended.

“I can assure you the people of Alabama have nothing to do with the Mr. Hollywood-friendly liberal agenda. Oliver,” said Ivey. “We will continue to focus on helping our young people become the adults God wants, and if that hurts you, John, I don’t care.”
