Director Roman Polanski, who fled the United States to avoid conviction after being convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1978, was no longer successful in France, where he had previously had success as a director.

Polanski’s recent win at the César Awards – along with recent sexual harassment allegations – has sparked anger among French feminists and prompted the resignation of the board of directors of the 21-member organization that runs César, according to Variety.

Now the director can’t find the funds for his upcoming movie, CastleProducer Luca Barbareschi says the film is currently being shot in the Swiss Alps.

Although some investors disappeared after filming began, Barbareschi added that he did not expect France to shut down Polanski and still hoped the French film industry would accept the film.

“I was able to arrange production for a year without France, as France did not want to invest a euro in Polanski,” he said. “I was really hurt.”

“If this movie doesn’t come out in France, it’s a crime,” Barbareschi said.

The producer has yet to weigh in on the true crimes Polanski has been accused of of drugging and sodomizing a 13-year-old girl with Quaaludes, brutally raping a 15-year-old actress, and more.

Barbareschi also expressed his concerns Castle probably close to other countries, such as English-speaking countries such as the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, which refused to show Polanski’s 2019 film. Officer and spy in their theatres.

“If you think so Officer and spy I have not played in any English-speaking country, I am afraid, ”said the Italian producer.

The film’s casting was also difficult, as some actors turned down roles for fear that working with a struggling director would hurt their careers, though Barbareschi said “no one spoke about the film in those terms.”

“Every movie has its own mix. After all, we had the best cast I expected,” he said, adding that “some setbacks weren’t easy for Roman.”
