In search of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, teams as part of Operation Javari found “apparently human organic material” in the Itaquaí River near the port of Atalaia do Norte in Amazonas, according to information released this Friday (10).
Content will be submitted for expert analysis by the Federal Police National Criminalistics Institute. Blood samples found on Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira’s ship will also be examined at the institute.
For comparison with identified blood, agents collected reference genetic material from both missing persons.
Native Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips have been missing since last Sunday (5).
According to the Vale do Javari (Univaja) Association of Indigenous Organizations, Phillips was traveling with Brazilians to a place called Lago do Jaburu to interview indigenous people.
