PF committee says boat belonging to Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips has yet to be found

The crisis committee coordinated by the Amazonas Federal Police, which worked to search for Brazilian native Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips, who disappeared on June 5 in the Javari Valley in the Amazon, this Thursday (16) said the ship the couple used has yet to be found.

According to the note, the ship was not found, despite extensive searches in the surrounding area marked by Amarildo da Costa Oliveira, aka “Pelado”, on that date.

Among those under investigation into the couple’s disappearance, Amarildo admitted that Pereira and Phillips were killed because of complaints about illegal fishing in the area.

The committee also collected samples from the suspect’s boat. [Amarildo]a complete male genetic profile was obtained, but the possibility of Dom Phillips material was excluded.

“The National Institute for Criminalistics, confronted with the genetic reference profiles of the disappeared, ruled out the possibility that this permission came from Dom Phillips,” the note states. However, the possibility of these coming from Bruno is still uncertain and requires supplementary examinations.

Regarding the “apparently human organic material” found in the Itaquai River on June 10, the committee said that despite human-induced compatibility in macroscopic analysis, no human DNA was detected.

“This result may be due to disruption of autosomal DNA or, for example, non-human origin,” the experts say.

The process of identifying the remains of bodies collected yesterday and sent to Brasília for analysis will begin on Friday (17) and will be completed next week.

Metin says that investigations are continuing in the region for “full clarification of the case”.
