Singer Macy Gray denies ‘transphobia’ allegations: ‘I don’t know what it feels like to be a trans woman’

R&B singer Macy Gray has been accused of being “transphobic” after she said, “Switching places doesn’t make you a woman.” The singer responded to the attacks by tweeting that she only interpreted the word “woman.”

“I did not specify trans women. Just a girl. Because I know what it means to be. I didn’t know what it meant to be a trans woman, and I didn’t say I knew. But it works just as well,” Gray wrote in a recently deleted tweet, according to a post in Fox News.

On Monday, Gray was attacked after he told Piers Morgan a woman was “a man with boobs and pussy.”

“I’m going to say this and everybody’s going to hate me, but as a woman, just because you switch places doesn’t make a woman. Sorry, Gray added. – I know that for sure.

“If you want to call me ‘it’, I’ll do it because you love me. “But you’re not that woman just because I called you ‘she’ and just because you had the surgery,” the singer continued.

“Women had a completely different experience. And that doesn’t change with surgery or self-discovery. Being a little girl is a totally epic book, and you can’t have a book just because you want to be a girl,” Gray said.

After Morgan noted that such remarks could be called “transphobic,” the singer said, “Pero is, too, and I don’t think you should be called transphobic because you disagree.”

“There’s a lot of judgment and grinding of people just for saying what it is,” he added.

In a statement to Fox News Digital on Tuesday, Gray said he “has nothing but love for the LGBTQ+ and transgender community and has supported them from day one.”

“My statement about Piers Morgan was misunderstood,” the singer added. “I don’t hate anyone. I respect everyone’s right to be comfortable in their body and live their own truth.”

Gray has been called “ignorant”, “transphobic”, and “TERF” (transgender-specific radical feminist) by transgender and left-wing activists, referring to feminists whose advocacy for women’s rights does not include biological men recognized as women.
