Actor John Leguizamo took to Instagram in response to actor James Franco’s casting as Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro in an upcoming movie. Alina Cuba.

Look In response to Leguizamo’s post, host Ana Navaro said: “I would like to think that no worthy actor in Latin America would sign up to play and glorify the murderous dictator who has terrorized the Cuban people for six decades. I agree with your boycott for the same reason as you said.”
According to Breitbart News, the film will be adapted from a book written by Castro’s Cuban dissident daughter, Alina Fernandez, and will be directed by Javier Bardem’s cousin, Miguel Bardem. Leguizamo did not mention the fact that the main executive of the project are Latinos, and Alina Fernandez supports the casting of Franco.
Speaking to Deadline, creative producer John Martinez O’Phelan said that Fernandez’s involvement was crucial to portraying the role of Fidel Castro.
“Finding and convincing James Franco to play Castro was a fun and challenging process, and a collaborative effort across the universe, because our director’s main task was to find a physically developed actor very similar to the real Castro. Besides finding someone to fully support Alina Fernandez,” O’Phelan told Deadline.
