The head of the Syndicate of Doctors of Tripoli and the North, Muhammad Safi, announced a strike today, tomorrow, Saturday, in protest against repeated attacks on medical staff, calling on the judiciary to take action of maximum measure against aggressors.

At a press conference, Safi said: “Our colleague was insulted and beaten by one of the escorts of a patient undergoing hospital treatment” yesterday. “It is an unethical action that is repeated from time to time against doctors and nurses who provide their medical services to patients honestly and sincerely in accordance with their medical ethics.”

Accordingly, the union decided to “call a general strike of doctors in clinics, dispensaries and hospitals tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, in protest against the repeated attacks on medical facilities, with only of emergency care and dialysis. ”

Safi promised that in the event of a repeated attack, “he will take the highest legal steps to preserve the right of the doctor and will not deny a case, no matter how many mediators. The dignity of a doctor is a red line that we do not agree to cross. ”

Although he pointed out that “repeated attacks on doctors do not have a proper judicial character and the aggressors are not held accountable in a firm and strict manner”, he called on the judiciary and related services to security to “take strict measures”. against the aggressors and resolve this issue in court, without allowing any kind of intervention and mediation.
