The Super Bock Super Rock (SBSR) festival, which takes place in Lisbon, will return in 2023 to Meco, in the municipality of Sesimbra, but in a different location, which is still being studied, promoter Luís Montez told Lusa.
The 27th edition of the festival will take place on “July 13, 14 and 15 in Meco, in a new space”, which the promoter Música no Coração is “working with the Sesimbra City Council to guarantee the security and accessibility required by law .
According to Luís Montez, speaking with Lusa at the festival, which takes place in the Parque das Nações, “there are already several hypotheses that need to be worked on.” “These are solutions that require time and planning,” he noted.
In the 26th edition, which ends this Saturday, SBSR should have returned to the Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta, a wooded area, between the Albufeira lagoon and Meco beach, in the municipality of Sesimbra, after a forced two-year break by covid-19. 19 pandemic.
But on Tuesday, two days before the start, the organization announced that the festival would move to Lisbon, taking into account the declaration of a state of contingency in force in the country due to the high risk of fire and the consequent prohibition of carrying out any activity. in forest area.
In Meco, the organization intends to “condition a space that is not forestry, that is urban or agricultural, that has good access, that is beautiful and that has a large sign.”
“To be happy again in Meco”, said Luís Montez, underlining the “great job” that the Sesimbra City Council did with the developer and the “unbeatable” Meco beach.
The promoter and the municipality already have a space in mind, which has “very good accessibility” and “good conditions”.
“There are evils that come for good. I think we’re going to make history again. I like to keep my word. I said that Meco is forever, I have to comply, ”she said.
