Deputies approve the operation of parliament until July 29 and return to September 6

This Friday, the deputies of the Assembly of the Republic unanimously approved the extension of the operation of parliament until July 29 and the resumption of parliamentary work on September 6.

The deliberation project, presented by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, resolves on the extension of the “normal period of operation of the Assembly of the Republic until July 29, 2022” and the “Plenary sessions held until July 8 inclusive, as well as on July 20 and 21”.

The parliamentary commissions will be able to function normally until July 20 “and, between July 21 and 29, only for the establishment of definitive texts, for the scrutiny of European initiatives or for the treatment of matters related to the application of the Statute of the Deputies”.

“Notwithstanding the provisions of the previous number, the Parliamentary Committees They may also meet for any matter that requires consensus. of the parliamentary groups represented in them”, is added in the text.

“The resumption of parliamentary work in Commission from September 6, 2022, inclusive” was also authorized.

This week, the leaders’ conference scheduled the traditional political debate on the State of the Nation on July 21 and the last plenary session for voting on July 20.

A draft resolution was also unanimously approved, presented by the president of the parliament, on the composition of the Permanent Commission, a body that replaces the plenary session outside the period of effective operation of the Assembly.

This project establishes that “In addition to the President and Vice Presidents of the Assembly of the Republic, the Permanent Commission is made up of 43 Deputies”: 22 from the PS, 13 from the PSD, 2 from Chega, 2 from the Liberal Initiative and one from the remaining PCP, BE, PAN and Livre parties.
