The PS accused the Ordem dos Solicidores of preventing access to its digital platforms to Portuguese residents in China, but the organization, which justifies the measure for security reasons, affirms that an email is enough to gain access.
In a statement, the Macau branch of the Socialist Party says it has learned that the Portuguese Order of Lawyers and Enforcement Agents (OSAE) is blocking access to citizens living in Chinaand in particular in the Special Administrative Region of Macao, to the platform www.e-leilões.pt.
“Despite several alerts and complaints, the Order of Attorneys and Enforcement Agents has not presented solutions that allow Portuguese citizens to exercise their right to access their platforms wherever they are,” laments the party, repudiating “vehemently” the behavior of that command.
The statement underlines that “other similar platforms, such as auctions of the tax authority, do not suffer from these limitations” and warns that the restriction of access constitutes, “in the limit”, a violation of the Law and may even give rise to legitimate challenges acts carried out on the platform.
The Macao section of the Socialist Party, therefore, urges that professional order to “resolve the problem immediately (…), thus guaranteeing the fairness that is required of it as an institution of good.”
In a response sent to Lusa, OSAE explains that it has restricted access to the electronic auction platform for users accessing from outside Portugal. for “insecurity and cyberterrorism”and added that the objective is “to protect the extremely sensitive data handled by the platform.”
However, it states that it is giving “access to users registered on the platform and who access from another country, simply requesting that same authorization, by email, to [email protected].”
e-Leilões.pt is a platform developed by OSAE to carry out the sale of pawned assets through electronic auction.
