Joyful. believes. Ted Cruz (D-Tex.) Four Hispanic Republican women running for Congress from Texas Southern and Virginia will win their interim careers and join Republicans in the next Congress calling for more border security.
Speaking at a news conference about the border on Wednesday, Cruz said the day after former police officer If Vega, an American from El Salvador, won a tight first race in Virginia, and Rep. Myra Flores (R-TX) scores a historic special election victory in the 34th district of Texas.
“Let me give you some hope,” said Cruz, praising Flores, who said he “sees firsthand the dreadful open borders” to win the Spanish-majority region, which has been represented by the Democrat for nearly 150 years.

Married to a Border Patrol agent, Flores works with Republicans Monica De La Cruz and Cassie Garcia in the three southernmost districts of the Lone Star State. Republicans have targeted all three border counties as winners this November, although two are blueprinted.
“I’m here to guess now – there are two more counties in South Texas that have been Democrats for over 100 years. I believe the three of us will win. You’re going to see three Republicans elected from South Texas, all Hispanic, and I can’t wait,” Cruz said.

Cruz-backed Vega wants to take down Rep. In the northern Virginia suburb of Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), the FiveThirtyEight race scored two points in favor of the Democrats, and Cook’s Political Report scored a Democratic shot.
“Actually, he won his first election yesterday in Virginia when Vega, the son of El Salvadoran immigrants whose brother nearly died from MS-13, was seriously injured and nearly died,” Cruz said. “We’re going to see four new Latino Republican women stand up and say that open borders are wrong.”
said Vega Washington Post – In 2020, describing him as a “political lightning rod” – he said he was forced to join law enforcement after his family fled gang violence in El Salvador and after he saw gang members abusing his family and friends in his northern Virginia neighborhood.
Cruz added about Vega and the three candidates in South Texas: “Nancy Pelosi and the AOC’s ‘No, no, no, you don’t understand what the limit is!’ They’re doing it wrong. And Americans are tired of it.”
