Mulvaney: ‘Separate’ Mark Meadows runs like a ‘clown show’ in the west wing

Former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney described his successor, Mark Meadows, as “disconnected” and said on CNN’s “Tonight” on Wednesday that he runs the West Wing like a “clown show.”

Mulvaney said: “Mark seems to have gone through a very dark time. It looks like he’s been suspended from work according to Cassidy. I don’t know if he has an event he can’t attend. But I think Mark is in a strange place. And if he does, I assume he might be forced to testify, because he hasn’t yet “He hasn’t been charged with a criminal case, and the criminal case has already been sent to the Department of Justice. I think we’ll see more of him adopting the Fifth Amendment.”

Host Casey Hunt said, “Do you think Mark Meadows betrayed the country with what we now know about his actions on January 6?” she asked.

Mulvaney said: “This case is under investigation, but the trial is not yet over. There could be five, six, or eight witnesses to come out and say that Cassidy is under oath, and I’d be wrong to give him the presumption of doubt I’ve ever had. This process is incomplete and we must take it to the end. However, as a former chief of staff, I caught something in Cassidy’s testimony that really frightened me. This is how the West Wing works. It didn’t work. This is anarchy. This is chaos. It was a clown show in the Oval Office with the likes of Rudy Giuliani, Lynn Wood, and Peter Navarro, and the smarts took a step back. Chief of Staff, myself, Mark Meadows, John Kelly, we have to make sure the West Wing is working properly because there are security measures in place to ensure things like January 6th don’t happen. And that system collapsed under Mark’s watch. “While the president has full responsibility for the people he hires, the chief of staff has great responsibility when it comes to running this office.”
