The PCP deputy João Dias questioned the Government about the lack of family doctors in the municipality of Aveiro, where, according to the parliamentarian, there are more than five thousand users without a family doctor.
In a question to which the Lusa agency had access, the communist deputy says that the Baixo Vouga Health Centers Group (ACeS), which covers 11 municipalities, including Aveiro, has 18 files without a family doctorwhich corresponds to approx. 37 thousand users without a doctor.
Despite the fact that the needs identified in the Baixo Vouga ACES are “manifestly higher”, João Dias says that only five vacancies for the specialty of general and family medicine were opened for the entire group.
In the same document, the parliamentarian mentions that in the municipality of Aveiro there are 5,008 users currently do not have a family doctor, which corresponds to the need to hire four doctors.
“The solution to this problem cannot go through the overload of current health professionals,” he said.
In the question addressed to the Minister of Health, João Dias argues that concrete measures are needed to defend the National Health Service (SNS), which guarantees equality among all citizens in access to health.
The hiring and retention of health professionals in the SNS is urgent, specifically for the improvement of the career and remuneration, the implementation of exclusive dedication, the assignment of a family doctor and nurse to all users, the recovery of waiting lists ”, he defended.
In this context, the deputy wants to know what measures the Government intends to take to cover the existing needs and if it will implement the solutions to save the SNS or will be responsible for its dismantling and the social inequalities in access to health.
